It could be a matter of in situ machining, repair and retrofit or even hull repair and rebuilding. Whatever it is, service specialists and flying squads handle all types of equipment from boilers and heat exchangers to pump systems and hydraulic equipment.
Re-tubing heat exchangers, coolers and condensers, new and rebuilt exhaust gas pipes and compensators, and plate heat exchanger services are examples of the services on offer.
General repairs during a vessel’s voyage. From general steelwork like hull or bow and stern structure repairs to specialist services for bow thrusters and anchor and mooring winches, or even for accommodation, such as insulation work, electrical installations or carpentry.
Power & Industrial services
Power & Industrial services provide maintenance and repair services for a wide range of industrial equipment. It could be a matter of in situ machining, repair, retrofit and rebuilding, fuel conversions or environmental solutions.
Whatever it is, service specialists handle all types of equipment: from boilers and heat exchangers to pump systems and hydraulic equipment.
Re-tubing heat exchangers, coolers and condensers, new and rebuilt exhaust gas pipes and compensators, and plate heat exchanger services are some of the services on offer.
Power & Industrial services bring together all our service and support expertise from the Power Plants field, Engine services, Reconditioning services and Automation System services.
Propulsion services
Service network provide state-of-the-art solutions for any type of propulsion or shaft-sealing problem.
Services range from in-situ machining, laser alignment, straightening propeller shafts and rudder stocks, repair, retrofit and rebuilding, and environmental solutions for metallurgical and underwater repairs.
Company philosophy is to serve customers throughout the life-cycle of an installation, from the first discussions during the design phase of a vessel to the end of its operational life. We provide complete propulsion and related systems services globally, covering both Wärtsilä and other makes.
-
Field service help desk, commissioning and maintenance, both mechanical and electronic.
-
Spare parts, delivery of spare parts and advice on materials and emergency stock.
-
Metallurgical repair & system overhaul, worldwide repair of propellers and propeller blades, including underwater repairs and complete installation overhaul in-house.
-

Reconditioning services
Reconditioning is an ideal way to enable your installation to continue operating profitably while meeting new regulations and future requirements.
With reconditioning services, you will be able to achieve the maximum service life for your components with minimized maintenance cost without compromising safety or reliability. With the application of the latest technology, expertise and design, provide full quality and warranty for all reconditioned components; you will regain full functionality, helping you to exceed your operational targets.
A wide variety of exchange components is available in all units, which enables you to take a reconditioned part on board while your vessel is berthed and return the old part to the nearest reconditioning centre without extra cost.
Main components for low-speed engines include:
-
Cylinder covers
-
Piston crowns
-
Piston rods
-
Exhaust valves
-
Exhaust valve seats
Main components for medium-speed engines include:
-
Cylinder covers
-
Pistons
-
Connecting rods

Training services
Knowledge and skills are the keys to correct decisions and ultimately a job well done. Human Capital Development and Management System (HCDMS) has been specially developed for this process: The service includes:
In addition, advanced remote training systems, e-learning and self-paced computer-based training enable you to access our extensive Learning Management System through the Internet.
On-board and on-site training. Covering the dynamic aspects of a vessel, also provide on-board training for ship crews in the operation of control and automation systems. Specialist teams of experienced training engineers and customized courses help meet the individual needs of shipowners and power plant operators.

Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)
CBM moves the maintenance effort from a scheduled preventative format to a more flexible and accurate condition based predictive format. CBM will keep you up to date on how your installation is doing and help you detect any disorder or deviation from expected normal performance data in good time.
CBM makes maintenance proactive, rather than reactive, by spotting fault sources and emerging operational trends well before any failure occurs. The main aims are to balance the time between overhauls, to minimize downtime while maximizing safety, and to guarantee optimized engine performance under all conditions
Substantial cost advantage
CBM offers a substantial cost advantage since it closely conforms to the customer´s operational availability requirements.
CBM systems use a unique combination of visual and manual inspections, online monitoring of mechanical condition (with in-built sensors for example), system efficiency data and many other indicators.
When all this information is entered into the CBM system it enables us to accurately determine the real overall status and condition of your system – and ultimately the maintenance it needs.
With CBM, an important benefit is the prospect of saving as well as earning money. Our systems monitor the equipment condition and analyse operating data continuously. By diagnosing and calculating the optimal performance parameters, thus predicting the future status of the equipment, it is possible to:
-
Optimize operation
-
Minimize inspection overhauls
-
Replace parts at the optimal time
-
Tune maintenance to other business factors.
Service agreements
The agreements are designed to be tailored to your exact needs, letting you choose from different levels of partnership, or a day-to-day business relationship. The range covers:
The service agreements cover all aspects of lifecycle optimization, including parts supply and daily assistance, inspection and maintenance. They can incorporate implementation of agreed performance targets and even complete operation & maintenance packages for your installation. With a Wärtsilä service agreement, you can focus on what matters - the productivity of your investment.
Operations & Maintenance agreement
Focus on performance, profitability and maximizing equipment lifetime. Frees owners to concentrate on their core business. Is a partnership in which we work towards the same business goals.
Maintenance agreement
Overhauls at regular intervals. Technical support during major overhauls, including inspection of parts. Maintenance reports and recommendations.
Support agreement
On-site support for daily routines. Advice and assistance in the planning of different routines. On-site instructions. Participation in site reporting routines. On-site staff management. Extensive tailor-made training and development of site routines.
Supply agreement
Ensures the supply of parts and materials to a designated location. Covers supply reliability, parts guarantee and information on upgrades, with the option of monitoring your stock levels and proposing refills.
Reduce your operational costs by at least 5% and minimize downtime with condition based maintenance.
